COMPUTERS LEVEL 1 (basics)
A basic introduction to computers. This course will help you to understand what a computer is, how it works and what you need to know if you are thinking of buying one. Gain basic computers skills and understand terminology and concepts. Learn how to navigate the desktop and Start Menu. Launch and exit programs, save and retrieve files. Learn how to begin browsing the internet and understand antivirus software.
Broadband for Seniors
Broadband for Seniors is a free 3 – 4 hour one-on-one lessions with a volunteer tutor who teach very basic introduction to computers, tablets and web surfing. It is suitable for people who do not know how to turn on a computer. As it is a volunteer program and free of charge, there is a six week waiting list before a tutor becomes available. IT customer service
This course is part one of a specifically designed training program for staff and volunteers who work in customer service, reception and office administration work and want to improve their work related office administration IT skills. Using Windows: Understanding office IT terminology, File Management, Backing up Files and Folders. Outlook: Email, Outlook commands, creating contacts and group email, Attachments & resizing, Email security. Excel 2010: Basic spreadsheets, Data Entry, understanding formulae. Word 2010: Basic word processing, Editing, Formatting, tables, images. Office equipment: Using office equipment, photocopying, scanning, phones, troubleshooting.

Course prerequisites: Basic literacy and keyboard skills. Bring your own iPad with Apple id and set-up. For those who are thinking of getting one we can provide iPads to practice on in class. Market your Project with social media
This course will help you navigate the world of social media and provide you with the tools needed to market your projects and events online. Class time will be divided into learning new skills and social media project work. This would be particularly valuable for volunteers and those working in the community sector. The course will include: Mastering social media technology, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, Tagging, Likes, hashtags and how to keep your post alive, Optimising with visual content, Creating events on social media, Social media and online fundraising, Writing effective and engaging copy.
